In the City: Gumbeaux’s Cajun Cafe

Last week I traveled to Douglasville for a work related training. Usually on the night before heading home, I try to get out of the hotel room and get to know the city, especially if I am there for the first time. Well, a coworker that is from the town told me about several restaurants in the city that were excellent. I decided to go to Gumbeaux’s Cajun Cafe. I’m glad that I did. The food was excellent! The service was great. The staff was friendly. Even the fellow patrons were friendly.

I sat at the bar upstairs.  Since it was happy hour, they were serving a free appetizer.  The bartender served me Crawfish Dip over Fried Mushrooms.  I had never had it before but was willing to try, especially since I love mushrooms.  My first reaction..OMG..Yum!

So, after reviewing the menu and asking for recommendations, I decided to order the Crawfish Etoufee Crock and a side of turnip greens.  Although I am not a spicy food lover, I must say that the food was yummy.  Make sure you have a tissue handy..LOL.  I am a huge shrimp lover so anything with shrimp is great, in my opinion.

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit the Gumbeaux’s Cajun Cafe.  I enjoyed the experience and did not feel like I was in Douglasville at all (whatever being in Douglasville feels like).  It is perfect for a date night, family outing or girls night out.  If you decide to visit, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
