I Wanna Be Free Like Jill Scott!

quote-ain-t-nothing-coming-easily-in-this-life-sometimes-you-gotta-work-you-gotta-grow-and-jill-scott-85-65-31Listening to Jill Scott is my medicine. Her songs are my love potion. Her lyrics give me life. The words are like attending a spoken word event on steroids.

Just like every woman who has ever loved, her heart is pure and her emotions spill from her soul. Her voice is flawless. When she sings, “You love me especially different every time” she should end with a drop mic.

Reminiscing about feelings that are deeply personal, Jill Scott tells her stories with passion and lots of emotion. She says, “You woo me, you court me, you tease me, You please me.” Whatever happened to wooing a woman?

“A long walk” speaks the truth about relationships through joy, happiness, and ecstasy.

Here’s a sampling of the lyrics:

“You’re here, I’m pleased
I really dig your company
Your style, your smile, your peace mentality
Lord, have mercy on me
I was blind, now I can see
What a king’s supposed to be
Baby I feel free, come on and go with me”

Jill Scott

In my opinion, Jill Scott reveals the importance of being honest and respectful of the journey into a great relationship. Her lyrics are raw, at times erotic but about real life. She leaves no stone unturned.

I’m with Jill Scott; I wanna feel free to talk about whatever. Share what makes us happy and sad. Talk about verbal elation. Elation to me is sharing special moments and connecting on a level that far exceeds words spilling from our mouths. It’s that feeling of peace and energy connecting two souls.

Singing poetry is a talent that speaks volumes about the artist. Jill Scott mastered the talent of bringing poetry to life. A beautiful soul filled voice, poetry, beats, and emotions is an artist’s expression of true love; especially coming from a black woman. Jill Scott is a winner!
